Puckett football hires Alan Peacock as next coach, replacing Brandon Cutrer
Puckett football has hired Center Hill's Alan Peacock as its next coach, the school announced Tuesday.
Peacock, who resigned from Center Hill after 14 years with the program in February, said he and his wife planned to move closer to his sister-in-law, who is battling cancer. Peacock will also serve as Puckett's athletics director.
"Super excited to take over a program with a lot of tradition in a small town and be able to move back closer to family in the process," Peacock told the Clarion Ledger.

He replaces Brandon Cutrer, who accepted South Pontotoc's football coaching position in early February. Cutrer spent two seasons at Puckett with a 12-9 overall record.
“We are beyond excited to welcome Coach Peacock to the Puckett family,” Puckett principal Bryan Collins said in a press release. "Puckett High School is proud of its rich football tradition. Coach Peacock’s experience, leadership and commitment to student success make him the perfect fit for our school and community.”
Peacock, 44, started as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Clinton. He took his first head coaching job at Center Hill in 2011 and finished with a 60-98 overall record. The Mustangs ended their previous season 5-5 in MHSAA Class 6A.
“I am super excited about becoming the head football coach at Puckett High School,” Peacock said. “I played football in a small town and have always wanted to coach in a small town where I can work with students seventh- through 12th-grade. Our program will focus on attitude, preparation, and effort. I can’t wait to get to work.”
Puckett finished its 2024 season 4-6 and missed the MHSAA 2A playoffs. The Wolves' last district title came in 2015, and their last state title was in 2008.
