Pontiac was able to get in a couple of innings before the rain washed out the rest of the nonconference softball contest with Manteno at The Diamond at Williamson Field Friday. The game was tied at 1-1 when it was called.
Dwight hosted Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley Friday and saw that contest stopped in the third inning with the game tied at 2-2.
Elena Krause allowed an unearned run in the top of the second inning after PTHS gave her a 1-0 lead in the home-half of the first frame. Krause struck out four and yielded two hits.
The Stanford signee also scored Pontiac’s lone run. She walked to lead off the bottom of the first and eventually scored on a Neveah Vogt’s bases-loaded infield single. India Mattingly and Alexis Legner also recorded singles in the brief contest. Pontiac’s last game before Friday was March 24.
Monticello 5, Prairie Central 1 – At Fairbury, Monticello struck for four runs in the fourth inning to break a 1-1 tie and went on to post an Illini Prairie Conference softball victory over host Prairie Central on Thursday. The Sages led 1-0 after batting in the second inning, but the Hawks tied the game in the bottom of the frame when Kate Slagel scored on a dribbler in front of the plate from Kyah Creek.
Creek collected two hits and a run batted in for Prairie Central. Sam Slagel doubled while Ryan Galloway and Lily Kilgus singled. Dixie Hogan took the loss in the circle, allowing all five runs while striking out three in four innings. Jules Woodrey fanned three in three innings of relief.
BCC 9, Lexington-Ridgeview 8 – At Lexington, a last-inning rally fell short as Lexington-Ridgeview dropped a one-run decision to Bloomington (Central Catholic) in a nonconference softball tilt on April 1. The Minutemen scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh and left the tying run in scoring position when the final out was recorded.
Eleana Atkins had two hits and drove in a run while Allison Epley had a hit and two RBIs for the Minutemen (5-5). Belle Payne had a two-base hit and took the loss in the circle.
Bloomington 8, Prairie Central 2 – At Bloomington, Prairie Central scored twice in the top of the seventh inning to avoid being shutout in a nonconference softball tilt at Bloomington on April 1. Faith Fields drove in the first run and Kate Slagel scored on a passed ball.
Slagel had two hits while Kyah Creek had a double and Fields singled and drove in a run. Fields started and took the loss, fanning one. Jules Woodrey struck out seven in relief.
Lexington-Ridgeview 17, Midland 0 – At Lexington, Eleana Atkins collected four hits, drove in two runs and scored three times to lead Lexington-Ridgeview past Midland in a softball game at Keller Park on March 31.
Atkins had two doubles and two singles as the Minutemen pounded out 13 hits. Eva McCue contributed a double, two singles and drove in three runs. Brooke Stover had two hits and two runs batted in. Belle Payne and Emma Stover combined to toss the shutout.
