Nicolo Fagioli has posted a message saying that only ‘the present interests me’, and not his past or future, after further details surrounding his involvement in illegal gambling emerged over the course of the last few days.

Fagioli was given a seven-month ban back in 2023 as part of a plea bargain after it came to light that he had placed bets using illegal platforms.

Reports on Friday confirmed that the former Juventus midfielder had acted as an intermediary between organisers and other players, and that he had been offered rewards for ‘recommending’ prohibited betting sites to other footballers, Nicolo Zaniolo and Raoul Bellanova reportedly among them.

Further reports this week have confirmed that 12 players, whose names cropped up during the Fagioli and Sandro Tonali depositions in 2023, remain under investigation. There is no evidence to suggest that any of them bet on sport in any form.

In response to his name coming up in the press again over the last few days, Fagioli has posted a message to his social media profiles, indicating that he is not interested by what happened in the past, and is only focussed on the present.

“I live neither in my past nor in my future. I only possess the present, and it is the present that interests me,” he wrote on a story on his Instagram profile.
