Philadelphia 76ers announce medical update for star Joel Embiid

Philadelphia 76ers star big man Joel Embiid was ruled out for the season back on Feb. 28 after playing in only 19 games. He had a bothersome left knee problem that hampered him in the games he did play as he did not look anywhere like himself.

After a lot of time of conversations and deliberation, the Sixers announced that Embiid would undergo arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. The big fella needs to take all the time he needs in order to come back fully healthy for the 2025-26 season.

On Friday, the Sixers announced that Embiid underwent successful surgery and he will be re-evaluated in six weeks.

It's good for Embiid to get this done now. He must take his rest and rehab very seriously--which he normally does--so he can get back healthy for the next season. When Philadelphia opens training camp for 2025, the expectation is that he will be ready to roll.
