The Palestine Wildcats finished in third place in the District 17-4A Track and Field meet Wednesday at Wildcat Stadium.
Palestine had 10 individuals and two relay teams qualify for the area track and field meet as the top four finishers in their events.
S’Vioarean Martin and Isaiah Hill qualified as district champions in the 100-meter dash and pole vault respectively, while Dreylon Spurlock and Baylynn Williams finished second in their events.
Spurlock advanced in the 200-meter dash, while Williams advanced in the shot put.
Martin also advanced with a third place finish in the triple jump and was a member of the 4x100 and 4x200 meter relay teams. Cameron Jones, Da’Zarion Cummings and Don Brooks were members of the 4x100 meter, while Rocky Bruce, Brooks and J’Mauri Jackson advanced in the 4x200 meter relay.
Third-place finishers were Tre’Darious Shepard in the 110-meter hurdles, Patrick Morrow in the pole vault and Toby Beckham in the discus.
Nathan Gonzales advanced in the 3,200 meter run, while Julius Walker advanced in the high jump.
Girls
The Ladycats finished in sixth place in the team standings as they had 76.5 points as a team.
Sophomore Kynlee Atterton advanced in the discus with a second place finish at 99 feet, 3 inches.
Adyson Mohan just missed out on a trip to regionals with a personal record of 84 feet, 7 inches for a fifth place finish.
In the shot put, Sophomore Stormi Simmons finished third with a throw of 34-1. In the running events, the 4x100 meter relay team of Nevaeh Torres, Mokija Day, JaMya Walker and JaLiyah Johnson finished in fourth place.
Kaydence Savage qualified for the 100-meter hurdles with a fourth place finish, while Torres just missed out with a personal record of 17.55 for fifth place.
Day qualified in the 100 meters as a district champion with a time of 12.51 seconds, while the 4x200 meter team of Walker, Torres, Favour Ojo and Day finished second behind Madisonville.
Ojo also advanced in the 300 meter hurdles with a second place finish in a time of 48.79. Faith Ojo finished fourth in the 200 meters with a time of 28.07 for a personal best.
The boys and girls area track meet is at West Orange-Stark Wednesday, April 9.
