One new Chelsea signing has been described as one of the ‘best young wingers in the world’ and is compared with ‘Yamal of Barcelona’.
Chelsea have of course been snapping up some of the best young talents in the game and have players like Estevao Willian and Kendry Paez joining in the summer.
But they have also got two more new signings arriving soon as well, one will again be for this summer, and the other will follow in the summer of 2026.
Midfielder Dario Essugo is arriving from Sporting this summer and his current team mates Geovany Quenda will be arriving the summer after as well. It’s seen as two top signings from many in the game and Chelsea have worked hard to pull these pre-deals off to get ahead of the competition once again.
Quenda is an exciting young winger, and Essugo is a combative midfielder who has often been compared with current Chelsea star Moises Caicedo.
Like Yamal of Barcelona
Journalist Simon Johnson has been speaking on The Athletic Podcast this week and he made some interesting comments on Quenda ahead of his confirmed move to Chelsea.
In quotes picked up on X, Johnson said about Quenda:
“Chelsea see him as one of the best young wingers in the world, along with Estêvão Willian and [Lamine] Yamal of Barcelona. They see him that sort of calibre of player.”
Yamal is already world class so these comments may excite Chelsea fans hearing about the calibre of player they have got coming in, even if they have to wait now a little while to see him play.
Estevao though is expected to come straight into the Chelsea squad this coming summer but it will not be in time for the Club World Cup.
