Oklahoma Sooners favored to land 2027 4-Star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett

The Oklahoma Sooners are looking to build off of a 2025 recruiting class that could end up being one of the most impactful of the Brent Venables era, highlighted by offensive linemen Michael Fasusi and Ryan Fodje. Just eight months from the early signing period, the 2026 recruiting class is getting a lot of focus, but the Sooners are also working toward building the foundation of the 2027 and 2028 recruiting classes.

They've done a lot of legwork on potential five-star offensive tackle Cooper Hackett out of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, who was in Norman recently. Earlier this week, Parker Thune of OUInsider and Rivals issued a FutureCast featuring the Sooners in the recruitment of Hackett.

Though only Rivals and On3 have evaluated Hackett to this point, he's already considered one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the country for the 2027 recruiting class. According to On3, Hackett is the No. 4 offensive tackle and No. 19 player overall. Typically, the top 32 players in a given recruiting cycle are considered five-star players to reflect the potential that a player has of being a first-round NFL Draft pick down the line.

Hackett very much has that potential. His offer sheet is already pretty impressive. Hackett holds offers from Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, and Missouri. Expect that list to grow even bigger over the next year and a half.

He's a naturally gifted athlete who also stars on the basketball court. His ability to move in space, combined with his length, will make him one of the more exciting offensive tackle prospects in the 2027 cycle. But he isn't just an athlete. He's a physical offensive tackle at the point of attack, looking to punish the defender. Hackett does a great job climbing to the second level and arrives to his target with force. He shows really good awareness on stunts and blitzes. Hackett displays the ability to pull on tackle counters and shows really good patience in pass protection.

The 2027 early signing period is 20 months away, making it really early in Hackett's recruitment. However, the Oklahoma Sooners have already put themselves in a strong position to land the talented in-state offensive tackle.
