All-County Girls Indoor Track & Field: North's Johnson, Stine share top honors
Here are The Herald-Mail's 2024-25 All-Washington County Girls Indoor Track & Field selections:
Rian Johnson, Sr., North Hagerstown
Co-Athlete of the Year
Johnson finished the season with county indoor records in the 800 (2:17.80) and 1,600 (4:52.92). She won county and CMC large-school titles in the 800, and the 3A West title in the 1,600. She earned silver in the 1,600 and bronze in the 800 in Class 3A at states, running the third-fastest girls 1,600 in state-meet history across all classifications.
Lauren Stine, Sr., North Hagerstown
Co-Athlete of the Year
Stine lowered her county indoor record in the 3,200 to 10:48.89, and ranked second in the county this season in the 1,600 (5:09.89). She was undefeated in the 3,200, winning county, CMC large-school and 3A West titles before claiming her fourth consecutive Class 3A state championship in the event (two indoors and two outdoors).
All-Washington County First Team
Madison Booth, Fr., Hancock
Booth tied for the county's top performance in the high jump (5 feet, 2 inches), which tied for ninth in the state across all classifications. She won the 1A West title and earned bronze in Class 1A at states.
Anna Chamberlin, Jr., North Hagerstown
Chamberlin matched Booth for top county honors in the high jump (5-2) and ranked third in the 300 (44.49), fourth in the 500 (1:27.06) and fifth in the 800 (2:34.60). She won the county high jump title and placed fourth in Class 3A at states.
Grace Ellis, Sr., Smithsburg
Ellis returned from injury during the season and was the county's top performer in the 500 (1:21.47). She won the 1A West title and placed sixth in Class 1A at states. Also was part of the Leopards' 4x800 team that won state gold and set the county indoor record (9:47.02) at Adidas Nationals.
Cora Gentzel, Sr., Smithsburg
Gentzel ranked second in the county in the 800 (2:27.61) and 3,200 (11:52.51), and was third in the 1,600 (5:16.42). She won CMC small-school titles in the 800 and 1,600, the county title in the 1,600 and the 1A West title in the 3,200. She took silver in Class 1A in both the 1,600 and 3,200 at states, and was part of the Leopards' 4x800 team that won state gold and set the county indoor record at Adidas Nationals.
Lilian Hade, So., Smithsburg
Hade was the county's top performer in the pole vault (9-6) and ranked fourth in the 300 (45.20). She finished second in the pole vault in the county, CMC small-school and 1A West meets before earning bronze in Class 1A at states.
Jenna Howe, Sr., Smithsburg
Howe was the top county performer in the 300 (42.06), ranked second in the 500 (1:23.40) and was fifth in the 55 (7.60). She won the county 300 title, the CMC small-school 300 and 500 titles and the 1A West 300 title. Finished fifth in the 300 and seventh in the 500 in Class 1A at states.
Taylor King, Sr., Smithsburg
King ranked second in the county in the 55 hurdles (9.66) and won the county title in the event. Also was part of the Leopards' 4x200 and 4x400 teams that swept county, CMC small-school and 1A West titles.
Kailyn McCauley, Sr., Clear Spring
McCauley was the county's top performer in the shot put (35-6 3/4). She won county, CMC small-school and 1A West titles before finishing fourth in Class 1A at states.
Brielle Morales, Jr., Clear Spring
Morales was the top performer in the county in the 55 hurdles (9.59). She won the CMC small-school title and finished third in the county and 1A West meets.
Annabelle Schaberl, Jr., North Hagerstown
Schaberl was the top county performer in the 55 (7.47). She won the county title and finished second in the CMC large-school division.
