Mar. 31—After placing third in the preliminaries in The Colony, the Odessa High School Color Guard made state on Sunday at Coppell High School.
Color Guard Director Hector Guerrero said they placed 11th out of 38 in the state competition. He said the weekend was "fantastic."
The show is called "Home" and the team even has T-shirts for it.
There are 12 Color Guard members and 18 on floor crew.
In a Facebook post, Guerrero said, "Home meant the world to me and my students.
"It's a place filled with cherished memories and laughter. To my students, it's a safe haven where they can be themselves.
"This season has been a whirlwind of unforgettable experiences, from competing at the North Texas Color Guard Association(NTCA) to making my first appearance at the Winter Guard International (WGI). These experiences have not only showcased our growth as performers but have also had a profound impact on our personal development as individuals," the post said.
Guerrero expressed his gratitude to the color guard, the floor crew, the booster club, the Odessa High School Band parents and the band staff, corporate sponsors, design team and his assistant Alfredo Sarinana.
