Ohio State falls to Wisconsin in bid to repeat as NCAA women's hockey national champion
Kirsten Simms scored in overtime to lift Wisconsin to a 4-3 win over Ohio State on Sunday in Minneapolis, keeping the Buckeyes from repeating as NCAA women's hockey national champions.
Joy Dunne, Sloane Matthews and Emma Peschel scored for the No. 2-ranked Buckeyes, who led 3-1 in the second period.
Dunne gave Ohio State (28-8-3) a 1-0 lead with a short-handed goal in the first period, and No. 1 Wisconsin's Laila Edwards tied it 1-1 less than a minute later. Matthews gave Ohio State a 2-1 lead with a goal with 5:16 to play in the period.

Peschel scored for a 3-1 lead 10 seconds into the second period, but the Badgers' Carline Harvey made it 3-2 with a goal five minutes later.
Simms scored on a penalty shot with 18.9 seconds left to tie the game 3-3. Ohio State's Maddi Wheeler had been penalized for for delay of game when she smothered a puck in the crease. No penalty was called initially, but Wisconsin asked for a video review and won its challenge.

This was the the third consecutive national championship game matchup between the Buckeyes and Badgers.
Wisconsin (38-1-2) won its eighth national title.
