NFL draft: Browns honing in on Travis Hunter with No. 2 pick

Is it time to lock in Colorado's Heisman Trophy-winner, Travis Hunter, to the Cleveland Browns with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft?

Colorado Football had their pro day on Friday for Hunter, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and other players like wide receivers LaJohntay Wester and Jimmie Horn to show off their talents in front of NFL personnel. The Browns sent the full stable of personnel: owner Jimmy Haslam, general manager Andrew Berry, head coach Kevin Stefanski, and more to view the affair.

As a result, The Athletic's Jeff Howe has dropped a bombshell after the pro day. According to The Athletic's NFL reporter, it is now becoming known in league circles that the Browns may be honing in on Hunter as their pick with the draft now less than three weeks away.

Here is what Howe had to say on what seems like the now likely second overall pick:

"In fact, there’s a growing belief around the league that Hunter is the favorite to go to the Cleveland Browns with the No. 2 pick, according to high-ranking executives and coaches. The Browns have been high on Hunter throughout the process, according to sources. And as he went through his route tree Friday during warmups, Browns general manager Andrew Berry watched intently from 10 yards away."

The Browns ranked dead last in offensive efficiency a year ago, so if they want to improve that side of the football, talent must be added. With Miami's Cam Ward almost Sharpie'd into the top pick to the Tennessee Titans, Hunter (who the team views primarily as a wide receiver) is the logical choice if they do not love the value of selecting Sanders with the second overall pick.

How they add a young quarterback to the room will continue to be a question.
