New Texas A&M HC Bucky McMillan's welcome event is set for Monday inside Reed Arena

New Texas A&M basketball head coach Bucky McMillan begins his new chapter in College Station, Texas, in the coming days after officially being hired on Saturday afternoon as the former Samford head coach will be formally introduced on Monday during the University's official introduction.

McMillan is Texas A&M's 23rd head basketball coach in program history and one of the youngest, at the age of 41, as a head coach in the SEC, bringing an exciting brand of basketball built on speed and 3-point shooting that should excite every Aggie fan after six seasons of Buzz Williams' slow and methodical defensive approach.

Overall, this was a risky hire due to McMillan's lack of Power 5 coaching experience, but for those who paid attention, his 99-52 record at Samford included four consecutive 20-win seasons and a trip to the 2024 NCAA Tournament for the first time in 24 seasons. Before that, the Alabama native won four high school championships, and has been a coach on the rise ever since.

For those in the College Station area who would like to attend the event, the doors will open at 2:30 p.m. CT. inside Reed Arena, the ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, April 7. For those unable to attend, the event will be available to stream at 12thman.com and on YouTube (listed above).
