The San Francisco 49ers should have a close eye on the draft stocks of the various quarterbacks in this year's class. That includes University of Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers, who is visiting with the Las Vegas Raiders along with Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty according to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport.
Ewers is not a player who is expected to go in Round 1, and certainly hasn't been connected to the Raiders with the No. 6 overall pick. However, any team picking in front of the 49ers with interest in a quarterback is notable.
Weird things happen on Draft Day, especially with quarterbacks. That's why the Ewers visit is at least a little bit notable for San Francisco. Any QB going ahead of the 49ers at the No. 11 pick is another opportunity for a good player to slide out of the top 10 and into the 49ers' lap.
QB Cam Ward from the University of Miami is expected to be the No. 1 overall pick. The University of Colorado's Shedeur Sanders is also expected to go in the top 10. A third QB may sneak in there depending on how desperate a team gets. The Raiders could be a team on the hunt for a QB. The New Orleans Saints could be in that mix as well.
Ole Miss signal caller Jaxson Dart has popped into the top 10 of some mock drafts, which is definitely intriguing. Now Ewers' visit to the Raiders is worth dropping onto the pre-draft radar as well.
The 49ers should be hoping a top 10 player slides to them, and the chances of that happening increase exponentially if another QB makes their way into a top 10 pick.
