Neville Gallimore ready to be 'jack of all trades' on Colts' defensive line
Indianapolis Colts' free agent signee and defensive tackle Neville Gallimore brings a "jack of all trades" mindset and skillset to the defense.
"You do what's asked of you, and sometimes you've got to be a jack of all trades," Gallimore said in his introductory press conference. "And I feel like what I brought in the playoffs, I'm looking to expand on that, to bring that coming out through the start of the season and to carry it forward. I was given an opportunity to contribute and make impactful plays, and that's what I'm looking forward to doing here."
Gallimore flashed his playmaking abilities during the 2024 postseason with the LA Rams. In those two games, Gallimore recorded three sacks and five run-stops, while only on the field for 45 combined snaps.
A former third-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Gallimore spent his first four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys and this most recent season with the Rams. As he mentioned, the bulk of his playing time has come lined up as a 3-technique, but he has experience playing up and down the defensive front, which includes at nose tackle and out at defensive end.
Compared league-wide to his position group in 2024, Gallimore ranked 51st out of 120 defensive tackles in PFF's pass rush productivity metric. Against the run, he was 133rd in run-stop rate.
After releasing Raekwon Davis to free up cap space, adding to the defensive tackle became a must for the Colts--and even with Gallimore in the mix, it still is. Depth is needed with only five defensive tackles on the roster and competition as well, which hopefully leads to improved play behind DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart--something the Colts very much need.
Gallimore believes that this Colts' defense under Lou Anarumo will be a "great fit" for him and he's ready to fill whatever role is needed.
"Wherever I'm being asked to (be), that'll be my new comfortable spot," Gallimore said. " I feel like at this level, at this point, you've got to be ready. If coach needs you to be somewhere, you've got to be able to perform. I feel like that's kind of my biggest asset."
