The No. 20 Nebraska softball team (28-9, 8-2) entered game two of its three-game conference series with the Iowa Hawkeyes (21-14, 3-6) on Saturday afternoon. The Huskers delivered a historic performance against the Hawkeyes, resulting in a 14-1 five-inning win.
Nebraska broke or tied four school records on the day. The team hit six home runs in the win, bringing their season total to 76, helping them secure their record 18th run-rule victory of the year.
Samantha Bland tied a program record in home runs, blasting three, becoming the second Husker this season and the fourth in school history to achieve the mark. Bland also secured a career-high in RBIs with five.
Nebraska's six home runs contributed to half of the team's hits, all the while holding Iowa to just two on the day.
Ava Kuszak, Bella Bacon and Lauren Camenzind brought in the other three home runs. Bacon hit 2-for-3, earning three RBIs, all coming off her home run.
Kylee Magee (4-3) claimed the win in the circle in her start, pitching 3.0 innings, firing four strikeouts and allowing one run. Hannah Camenzind closed out the game, striking out three in her shutout performance.
Nebraska concludes the series with the Hawkeyes on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch is set for 1:00 p.m. CT on B1G+.
