National power Faith Christian is Bucks County's high school wrestling Team of the Year
Nice encore.
A year after setting the PIAA record for most team points at the state wrestling championships, regardless of classification, Faith Christian did one better this season.
Actually, a lot more than one better.
The Lions blew away their own record of 167 team points from 2024 by piling up 232.5 at the Giant Center in Hershey earlier this month.
Qualifying 10 wrestlers (out of a possible 13) for the PIAA tournament and having four of them win gold medals, two of them end up second and the other four placing high in the consolations does wonders for your point totals.

It also secured this year's Courier Times/Intelligencer Team of the Year honors for the Lions, who finished as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation.
In total, the Lions won their third straight PIAA team title, plus team titles at nasty national tournaments like the Ironman, Beast of the East and Escape The Rock.
So, yeah, the No. 1 ranking is more than legit.
"This is just a great group of guys and we've grown up together wrestling and being friends," said Faith Christian junior Adam Waters, a three-time PIAA champ.
"We try to make each other better in practice and push each other to be the best we can be."
The formula is working as the Lions' four individual PIAA golds tied the record (again, regardless of classification) for most champions in one season held by three other schools, the most recent being Franklin Regional in 2015.

And the scary thing for the rest of the state is that all four of the Lions' gold medalists — Waters, Freddy and Joey Bachmann and Nick Singer — return.
Of those four, only Waters, an Ohio State University commit, will be a senior next season.
Add in senior-to-be Mark Effendian, who lost on a reversal in the final second of the title match at 285, and things get scarier.
Plus, like they needed another plus, the Lions will welcome back senior-to-be Cael Weidemoyer to the lineup next season.
Weidemoyer, a PIAA bronze medalist as a freshman and silver medalist as a sophomore, suffered a torn ACL in late December this season and, according to head coach Ben Clymer, is "working hard, and looking good" with his rehab and should be back at full strength for his senior campaign.
"We did really well in this tournament, but I think we could have done better," said Waters of the PIAA tournament. "That's how much talent we have.
"Everybody will learn from this, and we'll come back next year ready to go again."
