Monday Morning Coming Down: Keep an eye on YAIAA baseball this week
Is it too early to be excited?
Really, I mean it. YAIAA baseball has only been going for a week at this point, and there's already a handful of developments that has me raising my eyebrows at the potential races we might have in store for us as the season heats up. Then again, we're only through the first stretch of the baseball schedule, so perhaps I'm overreacting a bit.
I know, I know. The season is young, teams are finding their footing and divisional play only started this weekend. But come on, doesn't it feel a bit exciting? There have been some pretty spectacular games going around the league so far.
It's not going to stop there, either. There's plenty more on the horizon to watch for, as well as last week's action left to digest.
Here's this week's Monday Morning Coming Down.

York County Tech Spartans starting strong
The start of divisional play is where we get a better idea of how teams are going to shape up, and York Tech put its best foot forward over the weekend. It managed a 4-2 win over Delone Catholic, and one led behind a terrific performance from Brody Dedrick and Patrick Collins.
Collins held the Squires scoreless through the first five innings, and Dedrick batted in three runs for the Spartans while also earning a save after coming in for relief at the mound.
It's still early, but first impressions are always important. York Tech might be a team to keep an eye on further down the line, especially since it faces Hanover, Biglerville, West York and York Catholic in the next week.
Cash would be option: Bill would force schools, governing bodies to change sports ticket policies
Keep York High on watch
Last season, the Bearcats broke a 61-game losing streak to log their first win in almost five seasons after a win in early April. This season, they logged their first victory after two games with an 18-5 rout of Steelton-Highspire.
Does this mean York High's luck is beginning to turn? Maybe. It still has taken a pair of tough losses to both Central York and Reading, but it's a bright spot in a still early year. York High will face nonconference opponents Antietam this Saturday. The Mountaineers are still winless as of Monday morning and struggled last season as well. If there was ever a time for York High to potentially steal a second win, it will be this weekend.
Heating up in Division II
Again, it's still early, but the schedule slate for Division II ought to shake up the early tie near the top of the standings. Susquehannock and West York, currently tied for first place, face each other on Monday night. New Oxford, also tied for first, faces West York next Monday while facing Kennard-Dale and Dover in the meantime.
Kennard-Dale isn't to be ignored in the early race, especially after toppling Bermudian Springs in its first game and playing Trinity close over the weekend. Further still, it's early enough for York Suburban, Dover and Eastern York to jump into contention. Eastern York does host Susquehannock on Wednesday, after all.
