AC Milan are entering a new era this summer, and several members of staff may see their power change. One of those at risk is Geoffrey Moncada, the current technical director.
A lot has been said ahead of the summer mercato already, and with the window yet to open, there is time for a lot more to be said. Most of the action will depend on a new sporting director, and in turn, a new head coach, so it is mostly talk and rumours for now.
This, understandably, leaves the Rossoneri in a bit of a standstill position.
Nevertheless, work is still being done ahead of the window’s opening, and shortlists are still being made, despite there not being a concrete idea of the direction which the Diavolo will go.
Someone responsible for the preparation for the two new arrivals is Moncada, and today he spoke about his own future at Milan ahead of Sky Sport, via Milan News.
Special evening for Maignan. What stage are you at with the renewal?
“Last year in Udine was a difficult time. We talked a lot with him during the week, we told him to focus only on the match. We are talking, we communicate, but tonight’s match is more important.”
Abraham and Jovic’s positive answers… Important matches also for the future?
“It’s important to have a lot of players who score goals, so they have to be used at the right time. I’m very happy with our forwards, they work hard for the team and tonight it’s Jovic’s moment. He’s already scored two goals in the last two games.”
Will he return to being a scout leader with the new sports director?
“My role is not important, but it is important to work well for the club. My role does not matter. I still do scouting, I go to watch the games, I am with the team, during the week I do many things for the club.”
The technical director also spoke to Dazn before the match, via Milan News, once again.
Maignan’s contract expires in 2026… Where are we at with the renewal?
“I think the most important thing is tonight’s match. Then, we’ve been talking for many months, I’m with him every day, there are no problems. Today the match is much more important, really.”
The situation of Jovic and Abraham:
“The interesting thing is that we have 3 strikers, 4 with Francesco Camarda, we need everyone. We can’t have just one, we need many players who score goals. Today is the game for Luka: he did well in the last two games, as did Tammy.”
Will Reijnders remain central even if offers arrive?
“He is 100% with us, he is already in the biggest club in the world at Milan. He changed countries, from AZ to Milan, and he is already at a top level. We are very happy with him.”
Does Milan like Lucca?
“We already have our Luka, that’s fine.”
