Monaco’s Caio Henrique reveals he is still yet to return to 100% following ACL injury
It has been almost a whole year since Caio Henrique (27) returned from an ACL injury, suffered at the start of last season, however, despite the passing of time, the Brazilian has revealed that he is still not at 100%.
Henrique also suffered an unrelated injury in pre-season, meaning that he endured a difficult start to the campaign, inciting criticism from his manager, Adi Hütter, who at times left him out of the matchday squad. A reaction of sorts has been garnered by that tough love with the AS Monaco full-back making a return to form.
However, as he revealed at a press conference, attended by Get French Football News, he feels as though he is yet to reach 100% post-injury. “After my injury, you might have thought that I was at 100% physically, but sometimes you need time to come back well and I think that was the case with me. I’m still not at 100% but I would say that I am around 85%. The knee? It is alright now,” said Henrique.
Henrique not considering Monaco exit
Prior to his injury, he was a dead ball specialist and a threat with pinpoint crosses. That was a facet of his game that seemed to suffer following his return, however, he has stated that he now has “more confidence in [his] technique,” as he showed with his assist for Monaco against Stade de Reims a fortnight ago.
Henrique will be targeting a return to the Brazil national team, even if the defender admits the “difficulty” in doing so after a prolonged period on the sidelines. At club level, his focus is fully on Les Monégasques. “I am not thinking about a move away from the club,” said the Brazilian.
