Michigan State basketball's Big Ten tournament run ends with 77-74 loss to Wisconsin
INDIANAPOLIS — Michigan State basketball's eight-game win streak has ended.
Wisconsin exacted revenged for a loss two weeks ago in East Lansing, pulling off the 77-74 upset of the 1-seed Spartans on Saturday in the Big Ten tournament semifinals at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
Tre Hollman's tying 3-point attempt from the top of the key was partially blocked by Carter Gilmore with under 10 seconds left. Two missed free throws by the Badgers gave MSU (27-6) another chance, but Jeremy Fears Jr. got stripped attempting to shoot.
The 5-seed Badgers (26-8) will play the winner of Saturday's next semifinal, 2-seed Maryland and 3-seed Michigan, on Sunday (3:30 p.m., CBS) for the championship.
John Tonje scored a game-high 32 points for Wisconsin. MSU freshman standout Jase Richardson scored 21.
MSU may have seen its shot at a 1-seed in March Madness come to an end with the loss. The Selection Sunday show will begin to reveal the 2025 NCAA men's tournament bracket at 6 p.m.
