Marquette's David Joplin wins MVP at NABC All-Star Game at Final Four in San Antonio

David Joplin is sporting a new look, but his game still has the flammability he showed throughout his four seasons with the Marquette men's basketball team.

Joplin, a former Brookfield Central standout, poured in 21 points on 7-for-8 shooting to earn MVP honors at the Reese's All-Star Game on Friday at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The game, at the same site as the NCAA Final Four, is put together by the National Association of Basketball Coaches and features players who just finished their senior seasons.

Joplin had a closely shorn haircut, different from the longer look he had during a senior season in which he averaged 14.2 points per game.

David Joplin's parents were at every game in Marquette career

Joplin made his first seven shots in the game, including 4 three-pointers.

He has always scored in bunches. In his last game in a MU uniform, he had 28 points on 9-for-15 shooting in a loss to New Mexico in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Joplin scored 1,306 points with the Golden Eagles, the 27th most in program history. His career high of 30 points came against DePaul on Jan. 14 when he knocked down 7 threes.

And, of course, Joplin's parents, Howard and Lisa, were at the Reese's All-Star Game.

Joplin played in an MU-record 139 games, and Howard and Lisa made it to every one of them. The Joplins are both retired Milwaukee Police Department officers, and Lisa now has salon, in which she often works on the hair of Golden Eagles players.
