Jim Nantz rooting on alma mater Houston in Final Four; when will he arrive to 2025 Masters?

Last year was the first time in a long time Jim Nantz didn't have to take a red eye to Augusta National Golf Club to begin his preparation for the Masters Tournament. It was the first year he didn't call the Final Four of March Madness, meaning his Masters week started early.

That won't be the case this year. He'll be at the national championship game Monday night in San Antonio, as his alma mater Houston takes on Florida for the title.

Nantz, who will lead CBS' coverage of the Masters this weekend, won't arrive in Augusta, Georgia, until either late Monday night or Tuesday morning. Good thing he has experience.

Speaking with the media last week on a conference call discussing the Masters, Nantz discussed the possibility of reverting to his old travel schedule if Houston did make the championship game, which it did in dramatic fashion Saturday night.

"If we so happen to be fortunate enough to defeat Duke and play Monday night, I will be right back to my old schedule again, and that is to fly out after the game Monday night or at the crack of dawn on Tuesday morning for Augusta.

"So here we go all over again."

Nantz was roommates with Fred Couples, the 1992 Masters champion, when he was at Houston.
