Everything went Texas womens basketball's way in its 67-59 win over Tennessee in the Sweet 16, and the Longhorns advanced to the NCAA Tournament's Elite Eight.
Now they face a familiar foe in the Elite Eight, one win away from a trip to the Final Four.
No. 1 seed Texas has to play an old team from the Big 12, the No. 2 TCU Horned Frogs.
TCU is on a roll this postseason thanks to the leadership of seniors, guard Hailey Van Lith (the first person in college basketball history to take three different schools to the Elite Eight) and center Sedona Prince. The Horned Frogs won the Big 12 conference this year and reached the Sweet 16 and Elite Eight for the first time in program history.
Last year, Texas lost in the Elite Eight to North Carolina State 76-66. So far this NCAA Tournament, UT beat William & Mary 101-61 and 65-48 over Illinois at home in the first and second rounds. Texas' win over Tennessee was the first time they played a conference foe twice in the postseason.
If Texas wins, it would be the fourth Final Four appearance (1986,1987, 2003) for the Longhorns.
