Manchester United target Victor Osimhen set to reveal his future plans in April
Manchester United are looking to add an elite striker to their ranks in the summer after growing tired of Rasmus Hojlund’s poor displays this season.
The Dane did finally break his 99-day goalless drought in the Premier League last Sunday but there are still concerns whether he is the right person to lead the line for the Red Devils moving forward.
Summer signing Joshua Zirkzee is more of an attacking midfielder than a ruthless finisher while Marcus Rashford is expected to leave in the summer.
Viktor Gyokeres was reportedly the head coach’s top option but the Swede wants Champions League football, something the 20-time English league champions might not be able to provide.
Osimhen future
Which is why the club have moved on to other targets with Victor Osimhen seen as a bigger priority. The Nigerian has been on loan at Galatasaray where he has continued to bang in the goals.
In 27 starts across all competitions, the 26-year-old has 26 goals and five assists and Napoli are keen to move him on once the current campaign concludes.
The Turkish giants would love to hold on to the Nigeria international but Napoli’s asking price of £63 million along with his humongous wage demands of £413,000-per-week makes it difficult for them to afford the elite marksman.
United are in the same boat given their financial difficulties which is exactly why INEOS have lined up multiple cost-effective options as backup.
April deadline set
Osimhen has multiple top clubs chasing his signature and Galatasaray vice-president Abdullah Kavukcu recently explained what the striker had told him about his future.
“Osimhen will inform us of his decision in April. At the moment, the top five clubs in the world have also shown interest in him.” the club official was quoted as saying.
“Osimhen’s arrival was a dream come true. Now he is here and playing for us. In January, there was talk of him leaving , but he stayed because he loves Galatasaray. Today, he is the player all our rivals would like to have.”
The Napoli ace has long been linked with a move to the Premier League and it will be interesting to see where he ultimately ends up.
