Lydia Ko kept sharp for Ford Championship by playing against her husband for dumplings

Lydia Ko didn't quite make it back in the winner's circle, but four consecutive rounds in the 60s at the Ford Championship shows that she kept the momentum after three weeks off.

Ko finished tied for sixth at Whirlwind Golf Club, four strokes behind Lilia Vu and Hyo Joo Kim, who dueled in a playoff. After Ko picked up her 23rd career victory earlier this month at the HSBC Women's World championship, she spent a week playing fun golf with her husband in California. Ko said they played eight rounds in 10 days, including Pebble Beach Golf Links and Cypress Point. Ko, who used her push cart for many of the rounds, said she and her husband play for dumplings.

During the final round in Chandler, Arizona, Ko hit 14 greens and took 27 putts in a final-round 67.

"The greens are firm and I think that's what all of us have really been talking about all week," said Ko. "You know, sometimes you're left with a short shot and it's not a very easy one coming in.

Lydia Ko of New Zealand plays her shot from the 14th tee during the final round of the Ford Championship presented by Wild Horse Pass 2025 at Whirlwind Golf Club in Wild Horse Pass on March 30, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona.

"I think for the most part I didn't really make many mistakes, and it's always nice to finish off any event or have any round as a bogey-free."

Ko heads next to T-Mobile Match Play in Las Vegas at Shadow Creek Golf Course. She has a win and two additional top-6 finishes on the season.

"I love match play," sad Ko, who won the 2012 U.S. Women's Amateur at age 15. "I mean, the last time I had played a match play format on our tour was at Lorena's event, so it's been a while.

"I'm excited. The golf course I think suits the format, so I'm glad that it's kind of back to what it was."
