LSU women's basketball forward Jersey Wolfenbarger enters transfer portal

LSU women's basketball forward Jersey Wolfenbarger is set to enter the transfer portal despite earlier reports hinting at a return to the Tigers. Wolfenbarger's transfer was first reported by On3's Talia Goodman.

Wolfenbarger spent one season at LSU after playing her first two years at Arkansas. The junior started nine games at LSU and appeared in 23. She averaged 4.6 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. Wolfenbarger's best scoring mark with the Tigers was her 18-point performance vs. Louisiana on Dec. 15. Her best SEC outing came against Georgia, where she scored 16 points.

Wolfenbarger, who could play the wing or forward, gave LSU flexibility off the bench.

Wolfenbarger was not a major factor in the rotation late in the year. She averaged just two points per game in LSU's four NCAA Tournament contests. However, the loss is a hit for an LSU team that will need to replace its entire frontcourt.

The Tigers are losing star Aneesah Morrow to the WNBA while Aalyah Del Rosario and Sa'Myah Smith entered the transfer portal.

LSU is losing a large chunk of production, but reinforcements have already begun to arrive in the transfer portal. Earlier this week, LSU earned a commitment from former Notre Dame forward Kate Koval.
