Louisville vs Clemson score: UofL basketball game updates, highlights from ACC Tournament
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Louisville basketball is in uncharted territory: the semifinal round of the ACC Tournament.
If Pat Kelsey's No. 2-seeded Cardinals take down No. 3 Clemson in a Quad 1 game today at the Spectrum Center, they'll compete for their first conference tournament championship since joining the league in 2014 on Saturday, against either No. 1 Duke or its archival, No. 5 North Carolina.
Tipoff is set for approximately 9:30 p.m. This is U of L's first matchup against a ranked opponent since losing to Kentucky on Dec. 14 at Rupp Arena. The Tigers sit three spots ahead of the No. 13 Cards in both the AP Top 25 and the USA TODAY Sports Men’s Basketball Coaches Poll.
Louisville reached the semifinals thanks to its largest comeback of the season, erasing a 15-point deficit against No. 7 Stanford with 14:32 to play in regulation, and Chucky Hepburn's buzzer-beating jumper from the left elbow. The 75-73 win Thursday put Kelsey in a tie with Hall of Famer Denny Crum for the most victories by a first-year coach at the helm of the Cards.
Clemson got to the semifinals by eking out a 57-54 win over No. 6 SMU in the final game of the Day 3 slate. The last time U of L faced the Tigers, it got a career-high 32 points from J'Vonne Hadley en route to a 74-64 victory on Jan. 7 at the KFC Yum! Center.
