While the Texas Longhorns are busy preparing for the 2025 campaign, they have also kept their eyes on the future. On Thursday, they extended an offer to WR Messiah Hampton. The James Monroe product has seen his stock steadily rise lately, and the Longhorns want him to be part of their 2026 class.
Currently, 247Sports ranks Hampton as the 143 overall prospect in the nation and the 22nd-best wide receiver in the 2026 class. They also rank him as the best prospect in New York. That has made Hampton a popular recruiting target for programs nationwide.
As the Longhorns try to secure a commitment, they will face plenty of competition. The talented wide receiver has over 20 offers. He already has official visits set with Penn State, Miami, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC. Over the last year, Hampton has taken unofficial visits to Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, and Rutgers.

If Hampton were to commit to Texas, he would be part of an offense full of potential. The 2025 class includes Kaliq Lockett, Jaime Ffrench, and Michael Terry III. Adding Hampton to that group would make the Longhorns hard to stop. He would also push the Longhorns 2026 recruiting class closer to the top of the nation.
While Hampton has not set a firm commitment date, a decision could come in late June or early July. Until then, the Longhorns will be patiently waiting, hoping he chooses to have the next chapter of his football career in Austin.
