Longhorns men's basketball showing interest in former Drexel guard
Although the Texas Longhorns men's basketball offseason is less than a week old, they have already started looking for upgrades. On Thursday, the Longhorns reportedly reached out to former Drexel guard Kobe MaGee. He is entering his senior year after three seasons with the Dragons.
In his final season with Drexel, MaGee averaged a team-high 14.0 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. After the departure of center Amari Williams and guard Justin Moore to the transfer portal, MaGee had to step up and became a central part of the offense. His significant improvement has drawn the interest of various schools.
Since MaGee entered the portal, he has already received a few calls. Other programs showing interest include Syracuse, Xavier, Clemson, Seton Hall, Wake Forest, Kansas, and Maryland. That list should grow as more teams get eliminated from March Madness and start focusing on the 2025-2026 campaign.
Kobe Magee (Drexel) has been catching my eye lately. Shooting 46% from 3 on good volume (10 3PA/100), beautiful form, and an ability to shoot over contests spotting up + off the dribble

Due to his play last season, the Allentown native was given the Samuel D. Cozen Award. It is given each year to the Dragons' most improved player. One of his biggest improvements was his ability to put the ball in the basket regardless of the opponent.
In Drexel's second game of non-conference play, MaGee set a new career high in points with 28 while making 10 of his 12 shots. That trend continued in two of Drexel's most notable non-con games. Against Temple on Nov. 12, MaGee finished with 17 points and four rebounds. He then had eight points and three assists in a 75-64 loss to Penn State.
Over the next few months, the Longhorns are expected to make a lot of changes, and adding MaGee to the mix would be an upgrade.
