There wasn’t much talk about a potential move for Alexander Isak in January, but things could change this summer. Paris Saint-Germain and several other clubs are reportedly gearing up for a stronger push to sign the Newcastle United striker.
According to RMC Sport, PSG even considered a swap deal involving Gonçalo Ramos, Randal Kolo Muani, and Marco Asensio to bring Isak to Paris.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reports that Barcelona are eyeing Newcastle midfielders Sandro Tonali and Isak. However, one Premier League club might be out of the race.
The Guardian’s Ed Aarons recently noted that Arsenal see Sporting’s Viktor Gyokeres as a more realistic target than Isak. That said, all these rumors could stem from one place: Isak’s camp.
Liverpool remain keen on Alexander Isak
TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey has reported that Liverpool are still determined to finalize a deal for Isak now that Mohamed Salah has signed a new contract.
Liverpool’s ideal plan from the start has been for Salah to stay at Anfield while also bringing Isak on board, and that remains their focus.
Bailey also notes that Salah’s contract extension could encourage Isak to join the Reds. The club’s success in keeping Salah, with Virgil van Dijk also expected to stay, highlights Liverpool’s determination to continue competing for trophies.
