The LFP’s disciplinary committee have ruled on the match between Montpellier and Saint-Étienne, which was abandonned with the latter leading by two goals, just before the international break.
Montpellier’s game against Saint-Étienne was abandoned in mid-March. Saint-Étienne, one place above rock-bottom MHSC in 17th, took the lead in the first half through Lucas Stassin but were then reduced to 10 men on the stroke of halftime after Maxime Bernauer was shown a second yellow card.
Despite that, Stassin then doubled Sainté’s lead in the second half, which led to violent scenes at the Mosson. The match was stopped and then later abandoned. The LFP have ruled that the match will not pick up where it left off. Instead, the result at the time of the abandonment stands. Saint-Étienne therefore secure a 2-0 win that takes them to within one point of Le Havre AC, who occupy the relegation play-off spot.
The Étang de Thau stand where the violence occurred has also been closed and will remain closed until 30th June.
