LeBron James on how he felt in his return from his groin strain
Saturday night was not a pleasant evening for the Los Angeles Lakers. They got destroyed by the Chicago Bulls in a 146-115 defeat, which may have been their worst performance of this season.
That blowout loss happened even though the Lakers were just about at full strength in terms of health for the first time in nearly a month. LeBron James returned after missing six straight games with a groin strain, but he didn't look like his usual self. He shot just 7-of-16 from the field and scored 17 points while committing five turnovers.
He admitted after the game that he was "rusty."
Via Lakers Nation:
“A little rusty, a little rusty, but I was happy to get back out there,” James said.
Groin injuries can be tricky to deal with, and they can always become re-aggravated, so the 40-year-old refused to say that he won't have to deal with his groin strain again.
“I just take day by day. I can’t worry about what’s gonna happen in the future,” he said. “But I got through today. I’m obviously gonna get some work on it tomorrow. Hopefully, a little bit on the plane. It’s a long flight to Orlando. And then, once we get to Orlando and get ready for Monday. So I hope it’s behind, but I don’t wanna look too far in the future.”
The Lakers have 12 games left in their regular season schedule, and they will start a four-game road trip on Monday. That road trip will include games against the Bulls, Orlando Magic, Indiana Pacers and Memphis Grizzlies. Every one of those teams is capable of beating Los Angeles.
L.A. has a 43-27 record and is currently in fourth place in the Western Conference.
