Lady Maroons drop game to Madison Central
The Pulaski County Lady Maroons have had a brutal start to their schedule this season and that continued on Monday against Madison Central. Falling behind early, the Maroons did not have enough to make a comeback as they ultimately fell to the Lady Indians 5-1.
Avery Davis had the lone RBI for the Maroons in the loss with a solo home run while also adding two hits. Bella Ellis and Kynslie Crabtree each had one hit as well. Thomas earned the loss on the mound, going six innings while allowing five runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts. Maggie Gregory pitched the final inning, allowing just one hit.
Pulaski falls to 2-3 and will be on the road for the first time this season on Tuesday as they travel to Clinton County to take on the Lady Bulldogs.
Warriors struggle late against Corbin
The Southwestern Warriors hosted the Corbin Redhounds on Monday, and looked to be well on their way to a win after leading 5-1 after the first inning. However, the Redhounds outscored their opponents 13-0 over the next six innings and defeated Southwestern 14-5.
Michael Miller and Jayce Gager each had two RBI’s in the loss, with Chandler Taylor adding one of his own. Jackson Couch and Jonah Brock each added one hit apiece. Pierce Jasper went two innings on the mound, allowing five runs on four hits. Gager earned the loss, going two and one-third innings while allowing four runs on two hits. Benjamin Stewart went two and two-third innings, allowing five runs on four hits with one strikeout.
Southwestern falls to 3-2 and will be back at home on Tuesday to take on Danville.
Cougars fall victim to walk-off against Casey County
Somerset Christian traveled to Casey County on Monday and led the home team 5-2 after the sixth inning. Unfortunately, they were at the wrong end of a rally as the Rebels tied the game and forced an extra inning, with a walk-off RBI single handing Casey a 6-5 victory.
Conrad Martin had two RBI’s to lead the Cougars, with Jackson Case adding one RBI. Will Robinson had two hits in the loss, while Collier Helton adding one hit. Isaiah Hensley went six innings on the mound, allowing four runs on three hits with 11 strikeouts. Robinson pitched the final one and two-third innings, allowing two runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
