Konawa ditches Maud squad

KONAWA — It didn’t take the Konawa High School baseball team long to dispose of the Maud squad.

The Tigers scored eight runs in both the first and second innings and rolled to a 16-4 win in a home game earlier this week.

Coach Tyler Douthit’s team, ranked No. 9 in Class 2A-2, stayed unbeaten at 8-0 on the year. The Tigers wrapped up their spring break schedule with a home game against Little Axe Friday. Konawa is at Varnum Tuesday.

The Tigers offense has been running in high gear lately. Over its past five games, Konawa has scored 77 runs.

Konawa 16, Maud 4

The Tigers piled up 13 hits in just two innings against the Maud squad. Jamarcus Brooks had a hot bat for the hosts. He finished 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBIs and three runs scored.

Tanner Johnson finished 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored and Moses Isaacs went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Hayden Moore also had two hits, stole two bases and scored twice for Konawa and Tyler Whitley ended up 1-for-2 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored from the top of the KHS lineup.

Raydon Sitton went 1-for-2 with two RBIs and two runs scored and Cooper McKeel was hit by a pitch three times.

Grady Moore was the winning pitcher for the Tigers. He struck out six, walked four and allowed three earned runs in three innings.

Three Maud pitchers combined for two strikeouts, four walks and five hit batters.
