Four-star guard Kiyan Anthony put on a show in the championship of one of the most prestigious high school basketball tournaments, leading Long Island Lutheran to a title in The Throne, taking down a trio of teams in the USA TODAY Sports Super 25 national rankings.
Anthony, the son of NBA legend Carmelo Anthony, was named Finals MVP after posting 25 points on 9-for-15 shooting in the title game as LuHi beat No. 9 Allen (Texas) 71-68. The Mingo brothers, Kayden and Dylan, added a combined 29 points in the game.
Anthony scored 14 points in the first quarter, nearly outscoring the Eagles (15) on his own. He helped the Crusaders jump out to a lead early, going into the half up 14 points.
The Eagles made a run in the fourth quarter to cut the deficit to three with just two minutes left, but the Crusaders maintained composure and held on, knocking off a team ranked in the top 10 of the Super 25.
