Juventus Player Ratings vs Fiorentina: Fagioli Slays Thiago Motta
Seven days removed from their beatdown at the hands of Atalanta, Juventus were on the receiving end of another pummelling, this time courtesy of familiar faces. One could only wonder if the under-fire Thiago Motta had second thoughts while watching Nicolo Fagioli run the show and create two assists. Regardless, it is too late at this stage for the 42-year-old who might have had his last outing in charge of the faltering Italian giants.
We’ll certainly find out more on the manager’s fate in the coming hours, but for now, let’s take a look at the player ratings for the Juventus players who suffered a shocking 0-3 defeat away to Fiorentina.
Juventus (4-2-3-1)
Michele Di Gregorio – 5
The Juventus goalkeeper wasn’t necessarily at fault for any of the goals, but perhaps could have done better on the second. Unlike his last outing against Atalanta, he didn’t produce memorable saves.
Timothy Weah – 4.5
A woeful display from the American who failed to provide the necessary coverage at times, and found little joy against Robin Gosens.
Pierre Kalulu – 5
The Frenchman had a few decent moments against Moise Kean, but was caught out of position on the second goal.
Renato Veiga – 4
This was by far the defender’s worst outing since joining Juventus in January. He was way too casual in his marking against Mandragora and Gudmundsson on the second and third goals.
Lloyd Kelly – 4
Motta’s choice to play Kelly at left-back certainly backfired. The Englishman offered next to nothing going forward, and couldn’t cope with Dodo’s pace.
Manuel Locatelli – 4
The Juventus captain looked shaky in possession and wasn’t able to shield the backline properly as he usually does. He was also guilty of losing Gosens on the opener.
Khephren Thuram – 4.5
The French midfielder offered so much quantity but very little quality. But at least he looked like he cared to rescue a result, unlike some of his teammates.
Weston McKennie – 4
Aside from a blocked shot, the USMNT star was almost non-existent on the pitch. A very poor display.
Teun Koopmeiners – 4
The Dutchman failing to show up is no longer news at this stage, as this has been the case since the start of the season. You could hardly notice him on the pitch.
Nicolas Gonzalez – 4
A torrid display from the Argentine on his return to Florence. His former supporters made sure to jeer him every time he had the ball at his feet, and it might have affected his already-shaky confidence.
Randal Kolo Muani – 4.5
The Frenchman looks like a distant relative of the striker who delighted Juventus fans in his first few outings, as his levels are slowly degrading to match his teammates’ misery.
Substitutes
Andrea Cambiaso – 5
The Italian’s most noticeable moment was a spat with Dodo before succumbing to yet another ankle injury which will rule him out of Italy’s Nations League squad.
Alberto Costa – 4.5
An anonymous cameo from the Portuguese who didn’t offer much at all.
