Meredith Gaudreau, widow of late NHL star Johnny Gaudreau, announced the birth of their third child on Monday.

Carter Michael Gaudreau was born on April 1, Meredith Gaudreau shared on Instagram.

Carter received the same middle name as his father, “Michael.” He came out at eight pounds, three ounces and 20.5 inches, which Meredith Gaudreau said is the same height and weight as Johnny Gaudreau when he was born on Aug. 13, 1993.

She also said that her new baby, Carter, “looks exactly like his daddy.”

“I love you so much my baby!” Meredith Gaudreau wrote on the post. “We are going to have so much fun. I can’t wait to give you the best life, my special boy forever.”

A few members of the hockey community congratulated her on welcoming her newest child to the world. Johnny’s former teammate, Matthew Tkachuk, commented, “Johnnys twin!!!”

Other players paying their respects are Cole Caufield, Mikael Backlund, Cam Atkinson, Adam Boqvist and others.

Best wishes also came from Marc-Andre Fleury’s wife, Veronique Larosee Fleury, William Karlsson’s wife, Emily, Zach Werenski’s fiancee, Odette Peters, and more partners of NHL players.

The Calgary Flames, Gaudreau’s first NHL team, also paid their respects to Carter.

“Congratulations! Carter is beautiful.”

Carter is now the youngest brother to his sister Noa, who is two, and his brother, Johnny Jr., who is one.

Meredith’s new son comes just over three months after Madeline Gaudreau, Matthew Gaudreau’s widow, had their son, Tripp.

Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were killed on Aug. 29 by an alleged drunk driver. Gaudreau played for the Columbus Blue Jackets at the time.

Meredith and Madeline created a foundation to honor their late husbands in mid-March and to keep their legacies going.

The JM Foundation was formed "to continue giving back to what the boys are passionate about and to ultimately continue to make a positive impact on the world in their honor.”
