Jaland Lowe commits to Kentucky basketball: What to know about transfer portal addition

LEXINGTON — Kentucky basketball is back on the board with another transfer portal commit. The latest pledge for coach Mark Pope and the Wildcats came Saturday morning in the form of Jaland Lowe, who spent the past two seasons at Pittsburgh.

A 6-foot-3 guard from Missouri City, Texas, Lowe earned third-team All-ACC honors in 2024-25 after averaging 16.8 points, 5.5 assists, 4.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals per game. Lowe started all 31 games in which he appeared for the Panthers during the 2024-25 campaign. He scored 20 or more points 10 times, with a high of 28 in a 91-90 overtime win at Ohio State on Nov. 29.

His most notable performance: recording a triple-double (11 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) in a 93-48 rout of VMI on Nov. 18. It was just the fifth triple-double in program history. Lowe had three other double-doubles in 2024-25, all of the points/assists variety.

Lowe made 37.6% (166 of 442) of his shots from the field — he was 41 for 154 (26.6%) on 3s — and sank 88.6% (147 for 166) of his free-throw attempts.

As a freshman in 2023-24, Lowe played in 33 games (19 starts). He averaged 9.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 3.3 assists per outing that season.

Lowe joins former Tulane wing Kam Williams as transfer portal commitments for UK since the team's offseason began.
