“It’s important to clarify” – Fabrizio Romano opens up on Jadon Sancho future at Man United
Jadon Sancho, who is currently on loan from Manchester United to Chelsea, faces an uncertain future.
Although Chelsea have an obligation to buy the player from Man United, reports have surfaced claiming that the Blues have the option to break the clause of buying the player in a permanent move.
The English winger has struggled to perform at Chelsea this season, only scoring two goals and providing five assists for them in 28 appearances.
Considering his performances, it is understandable why Chelsea are not keen on signing him in a permanent move.
However, it may have some implications since they have an obligation to buy the player.
Transfer news expert Fabrizio Romano has opened up on the future of Sancho, providing the update in The Daily Briefing.
“There’s been a lot written in recent days about the situation of Jadon Sancho, so what’s the reality?
“It’s important to clarify that Chelsea signed Sancho from Manchester United in the summer, bringing him in on loan with an obligation to buy for around £20-25m, based on both the appearances of the player and the club’s position in the Premier League table.
“But Chelsea also have an option in this agreement to pay a fee to Manchester United to send him back to Old Trafford at the end of the season. So, that’s a possibility Chelsea have in the contract…
“So, for the moment Chelsea are not proceeding with this clause, but they have this possibility and it’s something they will assess at the end of the season. Of course, it’s not just Chelsea, and it’s also important to clarify that Manchester United’s plan remains to sell Sancho. They still hope to sell Sancho to Chelsea – they believe he will become a Chelsea player and they are not counting on him at United next season.”
Jadon Sancho has no future at Man United
Man United are willing to get rid of Sancho at any cost in the summer it appears.
The former Borussia Dortmund man may have already played his last game for the club. It remains to be seen what happens with him at Chelsea. It shows that with even Chelsea looking to offload him, the player has struggled to make an impact in the English game after an impressive start earlier at in his Stamford Bridge career.
Perhaps a move back to Dortmund or somewhere away from the Premier League could revive his career.
