Napoli Not Too Concerned About Swirling Conte Rumours
Antonio Conte has been linked to a few sides that will likely need a new coach in the summer, but Napoli aren’t worried about the rumors. They believe the gaffer will stay put and won’t change his mind after signing a three-year contract ten months ago, Il Mattino reports (via Tuttomercatoweb).
The Partenopei are confident their boss will see out the deal and eventually leave only at the end of it. He and president Aurelio De Laurentiis initially thought about inserting clauses or penalties to end it early if one of the two parties wanted to but didn’t.
Therefore, the sides that long to hire Conte will have to go through Napoli in addition to convincing the gaffer. The Azzurri haven’t received any inkling in such a direction. The manager has been attached to Juventus, Milan, and Roma in recent weeks.
The three Serie A powerhouses will search for a manager who could lead them to immediate success. Still, they all their shot to hire him either last year but didn’t, either because of their calls or his desire.
Our Take on Conte and Napoli
It didn’t take him long for him to rehabilitate his image of a super-duper coach after his subpar Tottenham spell. While the interest is understandable and probably genuine at least in some measure, he has everything he needs at his present team. They have been more competitive than expected right away, they have fulfilled almost every request on the transfer market, even those that didn’t align with their previous MO, and they’ll have plenty to spend in the next window. Plus, he’s really in charge of everything, which wouldn’t be the case in most of his suitors.
