Icemen drop regular season finale to Solar Bears; playoffs next

Turning point: Spencer Kersten scored the go-ahead goal at 4:28 of the second period and the Orlando Solar Bears beat the Jacksonville Icemen 3-2 in Sunday's ECHL regular season finale at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena.

Penalty box: The final moments included a pair of fights, matching Jacksonville's Brayden Hislop against Orlando's Reece Newkirk and Jacksonville's Olivier Nadeau against Orlando's Brayden Low.

Around the rink: The Icemen (42-22-7-1) open the playoffs on the road against the Florida Everblades, and the Solar Bears (37-25-10-0) will take on the league-leading South Carolina Everblades. … Jacksonville took the lead on goals from Brown and Peter Tischke. … The goals from Orlando's O'Reilly and Milo Roelens were their first with the club. … Matt Vernon saved 26 shots in the Jacksonville net.
