How many putts will there be in the 2025 Masters? Looking at 2024 data

It's time for the 2025 Masters, which means plenty of golf fans are setting their fantasy lineups for the tournament in the official Masters app.

The tiebreaker is a simple but complex question: How many total putts will be recorded by the field for the entire tournament? Seems like an easy answer, but it's anything but.

Masters Fantasy is simple enough for anyone to do once they create an account. Fans will pick a player from each of the following categories: Past Champions, Americans, International, First Timers and a Wild Card. Then there's the tiebreaker.

The Masters media guide doesn't provide total putts per year, but the average Masters winner averages about 114 putts per tournament. Last year, Scottie Scheffler took 109 swipes on the greens en route to his victory.

How many putts in the 2024 Masters?

There were 8,798 putts in 2024, per Golf Monthly. How will that compare to 2025?

Simple math says guess higher.

Last year, 89 players teed it up in the Masters. This year, there are 95 players in the field. Sixty players made the cut last year, so even if 35 players missed the weekend in 2025, that's two more rounds of putts. Even if every player takes 27 hits on the greens over two rounds, that's a bit more than 250 putts than 2024.

Official rules for Masters Fantasy can be found here, but don't say we didn't try to help you.
