The Tuomas Iisalo era has been good to Zach Edey for at least the first game.
Edey played well against the Los Angeles Lakers on Saturday night at FedExForum, scoring 14 points and grabbing 11 rebounds for his first double-double since Feb. 28 against the Knicks.
It was the Grizzlies' first game since coach Taylor Jenkins was fired. Iisalo took over as interim coach and inserted Edey back into the starting lineup after he had come off the bench for the past three games.
It worked. Edey had his way on the interior and had a significant impact on the game. The Grizzlies kept it close until the final minutes, but ultimately lost 134-127.
Memphis is back in action on Monday at FedExForum against the Boston Celtics (6:30 p.m. CT, TNT).
