BATTLE CREEK - This was the boys basketball season St. Philip had been looking forward to for years.
A season where the Tigers added championship hardware to the school's trophy case for the first time in recent memory with a rare division title.
Add, having the most victories among all the city teams, and it was a season to remember for St. Philip.
For all of those reasons, and more, St. Philip's Mike Kimber is our choice for the Battle Creek Enquirer 2025 All-City Boys Basketball Team Coach of the Year.

Kimber headlines the 2025 Battle Creek Enquirer All-City Boys Basketball Team, which is made up of members of the six city boys basketball programs and is voted on by the city coaches and the Enquirer sports staff.
St. Philip clinched a share of its first Southern Central Athletic Association West Division title since the 2013-14 season when the Tigers defeated Athens on senior night at Sheila Guerra Gymnasium late in the season. A week later, St. Philip won the title outright with an 11-1 record in the West Division.
Overall, despite having only six players on the varsity roster at the end of the campaign, the Tigers went 19-5 on the season, advancing to the district finals. The 19 victories was a five-win improvement from last year, as well as the highest win total among the six Battle Creek city schools. It was the best record for the Fighting Tiger boys program since 2013-14.
Kimber is joined on the all-city team by St. Philip's Colt Myers, Jackson Dzwik and Lincoln Dzwik.
Harper Creek went 18-6, advanced to the district finals and shared an Interstate 8 Conference title, and adds Brayden Bess, TreQuon Cotton and Braxton Liss to the all-city team.
Pennfield went 18-5 and shared the Interstate 8 Conference title, and adds Johnathan Lake and Calvin Paesens.
Lakeview won a district title and went 14-11 overall and features all-city players LeBron Campbell, Jackson Hardy and Bradyn McGill.
Battle Creek Central's Jeremiah Warren and Calhoun Christian's Stephen Andren were also named to the team.
