Georgia baseball sweeps Florida in dominant fashion on the road
The Georgia Bulldogs baseball team swept the Florida Gators in dominant fashion. Georgia completed a road sweep of Florida with 15-4 run-rule victory.
No. 5 Georgia dominated No. 11 Florida in the last two games of the series after winning 8-7 on Friday. Georgia's bats heated up on Saturday in UGA's 17-2 win over Florida.
Overall, Georgia outscored Florida 40-13 and swept the Gators in Gainesville for the first time since 2006. Georgia's offense has been elite and is a big reason why UGA is 24-2 and 5-1 in SEC play to start the year.
Georgia capped the Florida series with a six home run day, which raises UGA's home run total to 70 (most in the NCAA).
"Everybody was locked in, and I'm proud of our guys. We had a lot of guys contribute," said Georgia baseball manage Wes Johnson after the Florida series.
We know it is early in the season, but this Georgia team is certainly looking like a College World Series contender.
"It feels good, but you guys know we haven't done anything yet. You have to hook it up every weekend in this league. We got West Georgia Tuesday and then a really good Auburn team coming to town next, and they just won a road series with Kentucky where we know it's a tough place to play," added Johnson.
See ya later, alligator 👋
