GameTimePA announces 2024-25 girls wrestling all-stars, wrestler of the year
It was another banner year for girls wrestling in the YAIAA and the PIAA as a whole.
The PIAA girls state wrestling championships just wrapped their second year, and once again local wrestlers worked their way into the spotlight. Nine YAIAA wrestlers managed to qualify, while seven ended the weekend as state medalists.
Here are the 2024-25 GameTimePA YAIAA girls wrestling all-stars, as selected by our staff:
Boys Basketball All-Stars: GameTimePA announces 2024-25 boys basketball all-stars, player of the year
Girls Basketball All-Stars: GameTimePA announces YAIAA girls basketball all-stars, player of the year
Wrestler of the Year: Angela Imorhoa, York Suburban, sr.
Imorhoa built upon an already impressive junior season and concluded her high school career with a seventh place medal at the state tournament. She went 32-5 at 170 pounds and posted 24 wins by pin. She won her first sectional title and followed that up with a regional title two weeks later. Her only losses by the year came by three pins and two by injury and subsequent forfeit at the Lebanon girls tournament. Her final match was a pin over Cumberland Valley's Emma Beaven, who she'd also defeated at regionals the week prior.
First Team
Claire Gobrecht, South Western, fr.
Gobrecht went 26-4 in her first year with the Mustangs and won 15 of her matches by fall. She went on to place third at 100 pounds in both the sectional and regional tournament and fought through a crowded bracket to place fourth at states in her first year qualifying.
Emily Purvis, Central York, so.
Purvis went 22-11 in her first season and secured 13 of her wins by pin. She made a trip to sectionals in her first year, during which she took sixth place and came shy of a regionals appearance.
Alysiana Price-Ierley, York Suburban, so.
She qualified for states for the second consecutive season and claimed another podium spot despite falling in her seventh-place match. Ierley also took second at sectionals and fourth at regionals, and she ended the season 28-7 with 20 wins by pin. She is 58-12 through two seasons.
Faith Gladfelter, Delone Catholic, fr.
Gladfelter stood as one of the two freshman standouts in the YAIAA this year alongside Gobrecht. She qualified for states after going 28-5 on the year, where she placed fifth at 118 pounds. She won a sectional title and took second at the regional tournament. Gladfelter also won 23 of her matches by pin.
Tatum Duckworth, South Western, sr.
Duckworth didn't wrestle in the postseason, but she wrapped her final season with the Mustangs with a flawless 24-0 record in the regular season. She earned 18 wins by pin and two by tech fall, and she didn't have so much as a point scored against her in the regular season. Duckworth ends her career 71-11 overall.
Kenna Hoffman, Dallastown, so.
Hoffman went 29-10 in her second season with the Wildcats and took a silver medal at sectionals. She went on to place third at regionals two weeks later and qualified for states for the second year in a row. She won 19 of her matches by pin.
Ava Dietrich, Spring Grove, so.
Dietrich went 28-8 and won a sectional title at 136 pounds. She won 23 of her matches by pin and placed fifth at regionals.
Avery Baldwin, Dallastown, so.
Baldwin recorded her first 30-plus win season and won a sectional title at 142 pounds. She placed second at the regional tournament and went on to place sixth at states after qualifying for the second time.
Jahzari Abney, Dover, sr.
Abney went 19-5 in her senior year and went on to win a sectional title. She earned a bronze medal at regionals and qualified for states for the second time, where she placed fifth. She ends her career with a 43-15 record.
Tessa Henise, Dallastown, sr.
Henise hit a personal best in her senior year after going 31-9 and winning 29 of her matches by pin. She earned a bronze medal at sectionals and placed sixth at regionals. She ends her career 60-31 overall.
Noelani Knott, Dallastown, so.
Knott posted her first 20-plus win season after going 27-10 and won 24 of her matches by pin. She took second place both sectionals and regionals, and she placed sixth at the state tournament at 235 pounds.
Coach of the Year: Dave Gable, Dallastown
Gable further built an already successful girls program at Dallastown and helped it expand in 2024-25. The Wildcats went 7-0 this season, including 6-0 against YAIAA opponents, and won three tournaments during the regular season. They placed first as a team at sectionals and third place at regionals. Dallastown ended the year with a sectional champ and three runners-up, two regional runners-up and four state qualifiers, two of whom earned spots on the podium.
