Four-putt from 12 feet leads to missed cut for tour pro in Masters at Augusta National

In describing his four-putt on No. 15 in the 1988 Masters, Seve Ballesteros famously said, “I miss. I miss. I miss. I make.” Cameron Young now knows the feeling and will have all weekend to think about it after a harried four-putt knocked him onto the wrong side of the cutline at Augusta National

Cameron Young takes a break while waiting for his playing partners to reach the green during the second round of the Masters Tournament at Augusta National Golf Club.

The 27-year-old American was 2 over par, just inside the projected cut line, when he blocked his tee shots well right of the green on the par-3 16th in the second round of the Masters. He pitched onto the green, then missed the 12-foot par putt. All pretty normal stuff up to that point.

Things went south from there. Young stepped and quickly missed the tap-in for bogey, blocking it to the right side of the hole. He then missed a quick tap-in for double bogey. He finally took the time to set up properly and make his third tap-in attempt for triple bogey, but by that point, it added up to a four-putt and the weekend was out of reach.

He followed that debacle with bogeys on Nos. 17 and 18 to finish the second round at 7 over par, five shots too many to play the weekend.
