Auburn basketball legend Jaylin Williams is taking his talents north of the border next season. The second-winningest player in Auburn history, Williams signed a contract with the Winnipeg Sea Bears of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) this week.
The former Tiger joins the Sea Bears following a solid season for the Grand City Rapids in the NBA G League. Despite starting in just 4 of the 26 games he played in, the 24-year-old was able to be a productive scorer, averaging 8.6 points per game on nearly 40% shooting from the 3-point line. While he was productive, the loaded nature of the Nuggets NBA roster made a call-up for Williams nearly impossible.
Williams still has yet to manage to log an NBA minute, but the forward did see some time in the 'Summer League' a season ago, where he finished with 2.7 points and 1.3 rebounds per game against the top prospects in the Association. He should finally find an abundance of playing time when he joins a Sea Bears team that finished in second-to-last place in the Western Conference of the CEBL last season.
The longtime Tiger is currently slated as one of two American-born players on the roster, joining former New Orleans Pelicans forward Tevian Jones in the front court.
Jaylin Williams finished his illustrious Auburn career with the most games played of any Tiger (141), twenty first in points scored (1,305), and an All-SEC Second Team award. He was undoubtedly one of the key figures that changed the landscape of the basketball program at Auburn.
