Former Raiders QB Gardner Minshew jumps to AFC West Rival
It took just one day for Gardner Minshew to find a new home. The former Raiders starter was released on Wednesday after one season in Las Vegas and Thursday joined division rival Kansas City Chiefs.

It’s a 1-year deal for Minshew, who still has guaranteed money coming from Las Vegas. pic.twitter.com/puz743PXOg
Minshew had signed a two-year deal with the Raiders last offseason, which means he leaves behind $7.67 million in dead money.
The journeyman QB started nine games for the Raiders in his one season in Las Vegas. He started the first five games before being benched in favor of Aidan O'Connell. Then O'Connell was lost to injury in his second start, prompting Minshew's return to the starting lineup. Then a shoulder injury in week 12 knocked Minshew out for the remainder of the season.
He came to Las Vegas with expectations that he could guide the Raiders offense at least as well as he had the Colts the year prior, which yielded a 7-6 record and a trip to the Pro Bowl.
But the Raiders were a mess last season under new OC Luke Getsy and head coach Antonio Pierce, so Minshew never really got rolling.
In terms of backup quarterbacks, you can do a lot worse than Minshew. And many teams in recent days *have* done much worse with their backup QB additions.
Unfortunately for Minshew, the beach bum will be extremely landlocked in Kansas City.
