The Trey Lance experiment has found its way back to the Golden State. Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting that Lance is signing a one-year incentive-laidened $6.2 million contract. This would be his third team since getting drafted No. 3 overall just four years ago.
Over his four seasons in the NFL, Lance has appeared in 12 games, starting in just five of those games. He was 2-2 with the San Francisco 49ers and 0-1 in his lone start with the Dallas Cowboys this past season. His ceiling in the league has always been on the potential that made him a top-five pick, but as of yet, he hasn't reached the potential. Perhaps Jim Harbaugh can change that for the talented passer.
Lance is likely to be QB3 behind Los Angeles Chargers starting quarterback Justin Herbert and backup Taylor Heinicke.

Last season with the Cowboys, Lance threw 41 passes, completing 25 for 266 yards and one interception. He hasn't thrown a touchdown pass in the regular season since January 2, 2022, when he hit Deebo Samuel on a 45-yard score against the Houston Texans.
